A pair of George IV silver candlesticks, John & Thomas Settle, Sheffield 1823, baluster stems on weighted circular bases, detachable sconces, decorated in relief with floral and foliate detail, each 18.5cm high (2) (at fault)

More Information

Several dents, knocks and splitting to the highpoints of the decoration on the knop of the stem and the sconces (see pictures for illustration). The decoration has lost definition in some areas. Many small dents throughout, mostly concentrated on the base. Both sconces show some denting and misshaping. The silver mounts are coming away from the weighted bases in places. Both sets of hallmarks on the bases are worn, but are still legible, and correspond with with marks on the sconces. No signs of repair.
