A George III silver teapot, Henry Chawner, London 1792, of oval form with hinged cover, wooden knop and c-scroll handle, bright cut decoration and engraved cartouches to each side, one depicting a hare in a natural landscape, the other engraved 'To William Leggatt from Thomas Rogers Esq', 26.5cm long, weight 12.98ozt (at fault)
Small to medium sized dents throughout the body, concentrated on the side with the hare cartouche. Some splitting around the tip of the spout. Cover opens smoothly, but does not close flush. Several splits to the ebonised knop. Some separation between the handle and the body of the teapot. Some wear to the decoration, but all largely clear and legible. No signs of splitting to body, or repair.
